Take the Leash Off
People have a very unhealthy relationship with desire. And two of the unhealthiest aspects of that relationship are our continual denial about what we want and our inability to let ourselves go directly for what we really want. We have been raised with the idea that some things are ok to want and others are not. We deny, suppress, reject and disown those desires that are not ok. But they do not go away, they simply take up residence in the subconscious mind. Desires that are suppressed in the subconscious mind, become compulsions and that is when our desires can become dangerous to us. We keep a leash on each other and a leash on ourselves when we do not let ourselves and others admit to what we want and go for it. In this episode, Teal says, it’s time to take the leash off.
