One of the most difficult aspects of spiritual practice that involves increased consciousness, is hitting up against the reality of a multidimensional universe. What is true on one level, is untrue on another level. And seemingly contradictory things are true simultaneously. This can be very confusing. One such complexity that people run into is: How can it be true that this is a consensus reality, where everyone has free will, at the same time as it is a mirror-based construct, where everything that you experience externally is just a reflection of something within you? This is the seeming juxtaposition.
Just to give you a background on these two concepts, a consensus reality in this universe is a reality where multiple points of consciousness (we can call them people in the context of this conversation) are co-creating that reality. It is a social construct. In a consensus reality, there are things that are agreed upon that are the very mechanisms that form a shared reality. The collective agreements are what holds the system itself together. You can think of it like a shared dream where every participant is both creating and experiencing the dream and each participant is affecting the other aspects of that reality.
The law of mirroring, often called law of attraction, is a foundational principle or pattern that holds true for this reality we are currently experiencing. The foundational pattern being that of reflection. The principle being that the rest of the reality will constantly reflect and respond to the reality of a single point of consciousness within itself (we can call this a person in the context of this conversation) regardless of whether they are conscious of it or not. It is this law that is reflected in the idea of "as within, so without," meaning that you, as an individual create a "feedback loop" that shapes your reality. This law would suggest that the universe is an individual reflection, which seems to contradict with the very nature of a consensus reality.
To complicate this further, the universe is a fractal universe, where reality is structured recursively. Where each point of consciousness within the greater consciousness is in and of itself a smaller scale copy of the greater consciousness. This makes you both a piece of the greater universe and also a smaller scale version of the entire system of the universe itself.
Free will exists within both the framework of the consensus reality and the framework of the law of mirroring. It is simply experienced as a problem for people in a consensus reality. In a consensus reality, people experience free will as a problem because one person’s free will can clash with another person’s free will, preventing them from being able to make the totality of this reality what they alone want. When it comes to the law of mirroring, free will is experienced as solely beneficial because it allows a person to change themselves (what they can control) and by doing so, to control their entire reality to make it what they want it to be.
So, how do these two seemingly juxtaposed things go together? They are simply two different layers of the same system. Meaning that you will experience the reality of both co-creation and subjective reflection, like a hybrid. Perhaps a good way to at least conceptualize of this is to think of this reality like a multi-player video game. In any video game, the source code defines things like the logic, the laws, the mechanics and the behavior of that game. And everyone in the game must follow the source code so they can interact in the same space. The game world itself is a consensus reality. But a feature of this video game is that a single player can have a different experience of the game world based on this code within this consensus reality called the law of mirroring, which is a feature that largely exists for the purpose of self-awareness. Even though things like players influencing and effecting other players is still part of the experience of the game, and even though every player is ultimately co-creating the experience, this feature dictates that each individual player will also be reflected. They will have a unique experience within the larger game because of this. A great many things about THEM as a character within the game (things like pre-birth intention and pre-birth choices, thoughts and beliefs, behaviors, decisions, perceptions, actions etc) will dictate the things they see in the game, the items they find, what other players they interact with etc. This mirroring effect does not just apply to individual players, but also to “points of group consciousness” within the game world. This dictates what groups within the game world are experiencing, such as families, races, societies and species etc. When viewed through this lens, you can see that individuals are not just passive observers of the universe, rather they are embedded expressions of the universe, influencing the whole through their local, personal, and subjective experience. What all this amounts to is that even though you are pointing to two different layers of reality, the boundary between the two is actually fluid; as an individual changes their perceptions, beliefs, choices, behavior, actions, and therefore changes their subjective reality), they will influence the consensus reality around them.
Sticking with this metaphor, if players become aware of the codes dictating the game, they have conscious influence over the game itself. For example, they can deliberately alter themselves in ways that cause them to experience different things within the game world. This is what the teachers of law of attraction are concerned with. Most of them just greatly oversimplify the things within a player that cause them to line up with specific game world experiences. If you want to learn more about this, you can watch my video titled: A Major Misunderstanding about The Law of Attraction. If a player awakens to the fact that a feature of the game is that it is designed recursively, they then know that small changes at one scale can affect the whole. This implies that their state and the external game world are in a constant, repeating dialogue. They have discovered a hack that if there are serial killers in the game and they don’t want serial killers, a big power they have over that is to find the serial killer within them and change that inner serial killer. Now, if everyone did that, the entire game world would change. We wouldn’t be talking about the rudimentary level of the game of changing yourself so you change your own little subjective piece of what you experience out of the entire overall game world, which stays largely the same.
When people take the law of mirroring (usually called the law of attraction) to the ultimate extreme, they take the concept of reflection so far that they suggest that there is only one consciousness (yours), and that everyone and everything else is a projection or reflection of that single consciousness. As if all there is, is a subjective reality. To use a video game analogy, they are just very lost in the Heads Up Display and Specific Quest Path as if it is all there is to the game. And it is very important to get that not everyone within this game world is playing to create the most perfect subjective experience for themselves. That is only one potential objective in the game. And when this change in player intention happens, this automatically makes them a match to different things within the game world. Perhaps now you understand why it isn’t as simple as: The more self-awareness and awareness in general you have and the better you get at self-mastery, the more pleasurable your experience within the game world gets.
Long story short, if every player “ended the war within”, there could be no external war in the game world. If a single player ended the war within, they would not line up with the experience of war. That is, unless they did something like decide to recognize the total game world as themselves, and/or decide that one of their player intentions is to end war in the game world for all players. In which case, they will still experience war. Something empowering to know is that introducing even one payer, much less a few, that view things differently, can subvert the entire system within a game world as dynamic as this. You do not solely control the broader "consensus" environment that you chose into upon coming into existence. You are not the sole operant power. And yet, you can shape what you experience within the consensus reality and you are seriously affecting every other aspect of that consensus reality. The two seemingly juxtaposed concepts in fact go hand in hand.
