It is sad, but we expect others to love and care about us enough to trump their own personal needs, wants and best interests. We expect them to want and need us, no matter if we do not represent or offer what they need and want. And we expect ourselves to love and care about other people enough to deny our own personal needs, wants and best interests. We are taught that doing so, makes them and us good.
