If you will not be honest unless people can ensure that there will be no consequences for your honesty, you will perpetuate a dishonest world. Deceit is contagious. You can consider yourself to be part of the problem if you speak and act in a way that normalizes dishonesty and inauthenticity. When you act in your own best interests to the point of pretense, lying, omitting, deceiving, misleading and being inauthentic, you help to establish this as the norm for our society.
