    The Lesson Of Autism

It seems autism isn't the only thing forcing parents to choose their child's needs over society's demands but it certainly seems like one of the most extreme. Autism seems to have fewer religious/ traditional community consequences than having a queer or trans child, for example. Everything from being blind or deaf or ADHD or paraplegic demands some societal adaptation but autism means that person unfailingly needs exactly what they need, when they need it and will express exactly how they feel when they feel it, without shame... well, we could all benefit from being allowed such freedom to be so authentic without fear of losing love.
  2. If you haven't seen "It's a Wonderful Life" in a while, I recommend watching as a reminder, or a lesson, of just how blind and stubborn we can be to the gloriousness of following our own truth, the perfect path for us, even when it doesn't seem all that glamourous while it's happening. We can be begrudging to our purpose and our guiding sense of morality like George, or tuned in and in ready service to whatever pops up in life and love, like Mary.
