Can glaucoma be cured permanently?

Hey! I am a housewife, residing in Honolulu. My husband is a software engineer. A couple of days ago, he told me that he is experiencing severe headache and eye pain. He sits in front of the computer for more than 10 hours a day, so I thought it was because of over-straining. But today morning his eyes have become red and swollen. He also told me that he is experiencing blurred vision and feeling nauseous. He vomited after eating breakfast. I became worried and took him to a GP nearby. After a detailed examination, the doctor told that he is diagnosed with glaucoma. He prescribed some medicines to get relief from the pain and also suggested taking him to an opthamologist. Has anyone been through a similar situation? If so, please share your experience and also the treatments you have undergone. Can glaucoma be cured permanently? Please share your insights!
