About The Process

I find this one of the hardest processes to accomplish. I wonder if it would be easier if I had someone who was familiar with it talk me through it?

Learning to identify feelings and emotion can be very difficult.  In early addiction recovery many of us (men) had to use a printed chart listing emotions and accompanying emoticons just to get an idea of what we were feeling.  The idea of acknowledging our emotions, accepting and feeling them fully instead of automatically reaching for an intoxicant, this was a huge change in thought pattern.  Speaking for myself, it took quite a while before it became natural to experience emotion and be able to let go of the internal narratives that result in toxic addictions and other destructive behaviours.

@Csj - this question was from some time back - so how are you going these days? Still need to talk it through (typing-text-wise)..?
